Rosemary / Rosmarinus officinalis

Rosmarinus officinalis 'Arp"
From High Country Gardens in spring 2018

Expectations:
'Arp' grows upright, but I'll need to keep it in this very narrow strip by frequent pruning. It should prune well. Against the warm south heated wall of the house it should winter well.

Experiences:
I planted this hardy variety of rosemary along the kitchen window strip where it is hot and sunny and the soil is sandy. It is not amended.

By 2021 it had real presence. a full look and very aromatic foliage. It bloomed in May, but only a few blue flowers deep inside the upright stems.

Very fragrant. It has become a nice solid shrub anchoring this strip along the walkway.

I definitely need to keep it trimmed!

In early 2023 I hacked it way back by about a third. It recovered beautifully with a nice tidy, full shape and in spring it bloomed profusely. All winter it stayed green and full.
