From Payne's Nursery in fall 2019
This was a mistake! I had planted Oenothera caespitosa -- tufted evening primrose -- after seeing the pretty white-fading-to-pink flowers in harsh dry conditions at the Santa Fe Botanical garden. I put three out in the common area field.
Tufted Evening Primrose - this is what I planted in the common area |
When I saw "evening primrose" at Payne's I got more.
But these are not the same. The Oenothera missouriensis are showy bright yellow flowered evening primroses. Not the delicate whitish pink, and not the desert adapted plants, although they can take dry conditions.
In the end I took them out.
