Amelanchier 'Autumn Brilliance'

Experiences:
I got a little 2 gallon single trunk specimen to plant next to the rain barrel and the low juniper by the dining room window. The spot is well watered with drip emitters -- it was where the large gaura had been.
It does occasionally flood from the rain barrel, but it also gets dried out from the juniper's root competition.
It's in a tight area, and close to the house. It also gets poured on from above when it rains and the canale empties out right on top of it. Not a good planting spot.
But I wanted height and shade and screening right there outside the dining room window. When the two sickly aspens were taken down from that spot, it left an unshaded open area that the little Japanese maple in the middle of the two windows won't fill.
